NORTHERN ENGINEERING AND GEOSCIENCE EXCELLENCE TO BE CELEBRATED THIS EVENING AT 2026 AWARDS BANQUET
YELLOWKNIFE, NT – The NAPEG Education Foundation will host its annual Awards Banquet this evening in Yellowknife, recognizing top achievements from engineers, geoscientists and science educators from across the Northwest Territories and Nunavut. The event will feature keynote speaker Adam Shoalts, Explorer-in-Residence at the Royal Canadian Geographical Society.
2026 Award Recipients Include:
- Professional Service Award – Arlen Foster, P.Eng.
- Registrant-in-Training Award – Jenna Orr, RIT
- Distinguished Life Member – Lloyd Henderson, P.Eng., and Walter Orr, P.Eng.
- Award for Environmental Excellence – Coral Harbour Remediation Project Team; Nunami Stantec
- Professional Award of Merit (Engineering) – Trout River Bridge Project Team; Stantec Consulting Ltd.
- Professional Award of Merit (Engineering) – Baird & Associates, Hamlet of Tuktoyaktuk, IRC & Project Partners; Tuktoyaktuk Erosion Mitigation Project
- Community Service Award – Isaac Freda, P.Eng.
- Science Teaching Award – Christal Kelly; Ecole St. Patrick High School
“This year’s award recipients have demonstrated how innovation is being applied in real and practical ways across the North,” said Kamran Ata, P.Eng., Chairperson of the NAPEG Education Foundation and President of NAPEG. “From infrastructure and environmental stewardship to education and community leadership, this year’s recipients are making a meaningful impact in their fields and communities.”
