2026 NAPEG and Education Foundation AGMs Recap

Thank you to all who attended the 2026 Annual General Meetings of the Northwest Territories and Nunavut Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists and the NAPEG Education Foundation, held May 12 in Yellowknife.

NAPEG AGM Highlights

At the NAPEG AGM, members received updates on regulatory initiatives, continuing professional development, and updates to the implementation of the 2025-2030 strategic plan focused on the future of the professions in the North. John Van der Put, FEC, FGC (Hon.), P.Eng., President of Engineers Canada was present and gave an address to NAPEG registrants. Outgoing President Paul Guy, FEC, P.Eng., welcomed new Council members including incoming President Kamran Ata, P.Eng.

2026 Council Election Results

NAPEG is pleased to announce the following individuals have been elected to Council:

President (2-year term):
• Kamran Ata, P.Eng.

1st Vice President (2-year term):
• Philip Lewis, P.Eng.

2nd Vice President (1-year term):
• Taufik Haroon, P.Eng.

Councillors (3-year terms):
• Denise Atter, P.Geo.
• Jason Snaggs, P.Eng.

A total of 275 ballots were received in this year’s election.

We thank all nominees for putting their names forward and all members who participated in the vote. Council plays an important role in supporting strong professional governance and regulatory excellence across the Northwest Territories and Nunavut.

NAPEG Education Foundation AGM Highlights

At the NAPEG Education Foundation AGM, members received updates on scholarships, outreach activities, and the Foundation’s continued efforts to support engineering, geoscience, and STEM education across the North. Members also heard updates related to this year’s NAPEG Awards and ongoing strategic priorities.
