Request for Expression of Interest

The Northwest Territories Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists’ (NAPEG’s) Public (Lay) Member Council positions are currently vacant. We are seeking Expressions of Interest (cover letter), along with a resume, by August 31, 2022. The term is normally three-years. Please check the NAPEG website at for more information about the self-regulatory body.

NAPEG has two Public Members. Ideally, one is from Nunavut and one from the Northwest Territories. Public Members attend all NAPEG Council and NAPEGG Education Foundation Board of Directors’ meetings. Council meets monthly (usually early in the month on a Friday). The meetings are normally from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm. The Education Foundation meetings are not typically every month. As well, the Public Members are  expected to serve on at least one NAPEG Committee. If a Discipline Case goes to a Hearing, three Council members serve as the Board of Inquiry; however, historically there has been a Hearing about once every three years. Council members are not permitted under the Act to serve on the standing Discipline Committee.

Section 6. (2) from the NAPEG Act, states:  Council is composed of (a) the president, elected for a term of two years; (b) the first vice-president, elected for a term of two years; (c) the second vice-president, elected for a term of one year; (d) if able and willing to serve, the immediate past-president; (e) six councilors, each elected for a term of three years; and (f) two lay members, each appointed by the Minister for a term of three years.

The NAPEG Council has recently approved a policy to pay honoraria to the Public Members for their time spent attending NAPEG meetings. The rates are as follows:

Meeting (< 1.5 hours) $65 $45
½ Days (< 3.5 hours) $190 $125
Full Day $375 $250

If you have questions, I would be pleased to speak with you. Please send your Expression of Interest and resume to one of the email addresses below.            or
