Columbia Basin Trust is seeking a Compliance Analyst to join our Power Operations team. This position focuses on organizational compliance with the North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC) Mandatory Reliability Standards (MRS). The incumbent will work with the compliance team to assist in the development of the internal compliance program in coordination with FortisBC staff and other contracted support and will ensure the ongoing optimization of the compliance program. If you have experience in a related compliance role associated with Bulk Electric System (BES) risk, preferably in hydroelectric facilities and want to live and work locally in the West Kootenays, we’d love to hear from you!

This is a permanent, full-time position based out of our Castlegar office where you will join our dedicated team covering a diverse range of work in a collaborative and supportive environment.  The staff at this office live throughout the West Kootenay region and enjoy all that the Kootenays has to offer.

 Reporting to the Senior Manager, Compliance, the successful candidate will:

  • Maintain the Internal MRS Compliance Program.
  • Support the creation of compliance documents including Physical Security Perimeter Management, Vegetation Management Program, and Facilities Ratings Methodology.
  • Participate in Risk Assessment, Internal Controls and Policy, Process, Procedures, and Evidence template documentation as required by the MRS.
  • Participate in compliance with WECC audit response.

We are looking for an individual with a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Business Administration or a related field. The successful candidate will ideally have a minimum of five years of demonstrated experience in a related compliance role associated with BES risk, preferably in hydroelectric facilities. A strong understanding of MRS and Critical Infrastructure Protection (CIP) standards as outlined by NERC and their implementation within the Province of British Columbia would be considered an asset. An alternative combination of education, training and related experience may also be considered.
