NAPEG is the regulatory organization established under the Engineering and Geoscience Professions Act to regulate the practices of professional engineering and professional geosciences, to govern the professions in accordance with the Act and bylaws, and to establish and maintain standards of knowledge, skill, care and professional ethics among its members and licensees, in order that the interests of the public may be served and protected.
The Professional Practice Officer will possess the experience, knowledge and skill to provide advice to the Executive Director and Registered Professionals in matters of professional practice and ethics. This part-time position is available immediately for a 6-month term. The normal number of working hours is 22.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday. A competitive wage is offered.
Candidates must hold a P.Eng or P.Geo. designation with a Canadian regulator and be eligible for immediate registration with NAPEG. A minimum of four years’ post registration practice experience in engineering and/or geoscience. Strong written and oral communication skills, strong organizational and computer skills, and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Prior experience in a regulatory environment would be an asset.
Desired competencies for the position include the ability to manage time effectively, problem solve independently within the scope of the position and a high technical competence in Engineering and Geoscience.
