NORTHERN ENGINEERING AND GEOSCIENCE EXCELLENCE TO BE CELEBRATED THIS EVENING AT 2025 AWARDS BANQUET 

YELLOWKNIFE – The NAPEGG Education Foundation is proud to announce the recipients of the 2025 NAPEGG Awards, to be presented this evening at the annual Awards Banquet in Yellowknife.

The NAPEGG Awards honour engineers, geoscientists, and science educators from across the Northwest Territories and Nunavut for their outstanding contributions to professional excellence, community service, and environmental leadership.

2025 Award Recipients Include: 

  • Young Achievers Award – Isaac Freda, P.Eng. (Stantec)
  • Professional Service Award – Walter Orr, P.Eng. (Stantec)
  • Member-in-Training Award – Ryan Wallace, EIT (Stantec)
  • Distinguished Life Member – Kevin Hodgins, P.Eng. (Independent)
  • Award for Environmental Excellence – Rachel Mandel, P.Eng. (Canadian High Arctic Research Station)
  • Professional Award of Merit (Engineering) – Whale Cove Water Treatment Plant Team (Dillon Consulting Limited)
  • Community Service Award – Stantec in the Community Week – NWT & Nunavut Teams (Stantec)
  • Science Teaching Award – Karen Chan (Kullik Ilihakvik Elementary School)
  • Science Teaching Award – Nicole Matous (École St. Joseph School)

“These awards recognize the many ways engineers, geoscientists, and educators contribute to the North — through technical excellence, community leadership, environmental stewardship, and inspiring the next generation,” said Paul Guy, P.Eng., FEC, Chairperson of the NAPEGG Education Foundation and President of NAPEG. “It’s an honour to celebrate professionals whose work strengthens both our fields and our communities.”

In addition, the following 12 individuals from the Northwest Territories and Nunavut will be awarded the Honorary Fellow of Geoscientists Canada (FGC Hon.) designation in 2025 at the Awards Banquet:
