Job Description:

We are looking for a Junior or Intermediate Engineer with ice engineering experience to join our Yellowknife office. We are seeking an individual to assist with providing a full range of consulting services for resource exploration, transportation and environmental projects operating on ice covers. Your work will entail ice engineering-related projects such as winter roads, ice roads and bridges, and ice pads/platforms, as well as opportunities for project travel to remote and interesting places across Northern Canada.

This position brings with it the potential for excellent career growth in a unique and specialized field. The core requirements of this role are strong technical and analytical skills related to ice engineering ranging from planning, design and reporting. You will have hands-on involvement in the technical design and field review of ice covers, as well as participating in business development and preparation of proposals. Previous experience in Yukon, Northwest Territories and/or Nunavut will be considered an asset.  Other capabilities that would be a valuable contribution to the team include general experience related to structural design and modeling. Travel to remote sites will be required for this position.

Duties include the following:
• Acting as Project Engineer and/or Project Manager. 
• Preparing designs, as well as developing Quality Control/Quality Assurance frameworks, specifications and design criteria for ice covers to meet the client’s operational goals. 
• Conducting Quality Assurance site visits.
• Preparing written technical reports including site visit reports, certification packages and feasibility studies.
• Performing project management tasks including communications with clients, managing schedules, budgets, and reporting requirements.
• Effectively and clearly communicating, both verbally and in writing, with clients, owners and contractors.
• Coordinating sub-consultants on projects.
• Executing projects in accordance with company guidelines and standards.
• Participating in marketing strategies and business development with clients to procure business.
• Assisting with writing proposals to procure new projects.

Job Requirements:

• Undergraduate degree in Civil or Structural Engineering from an accredited post-secondary institution.
• Comfortable working in remote and northern environments.
• Eligible for professional licensing with EGBC, NAPEG and Engineers Yukon, and Professional Engineer with a minimum of 3 to 5 years of experience.
• Experience related to project management, design, specifications, tendering and construction. 
• Proficient writing skills.
• Strong communication and organization skills.
• Strong leadership and teamwork skills. 
• Track record in managing clients and developing client relationships.
