Reports to:  Team Lead, Project Management

 

Based at:  Regional Office

 

Position Purpose:  Accountable for the management and delivery of projects, understanding client’s requirements, delivering projects within these requirements, and within the set schedule and budget.  Additionally, the project manager assists with business development and the generation of revenue while striving for client satisfaction while maintaining project profitability.

 

Active Gross Project Fee Revenue Target:  $2M+ per annum

Annual Invoiced Billings:  $1.5M+

 

Specific Responsibilities Include:

 

Service Line Accountabilities – Project Quality and Profitability

Regional Accountabilities – Client Relationships and Operational Management

Manages the proposal development to ensure accurate pricing and professional presentation

Work with BDMs on acquiring new business and keeping BDM informed of project progression.

 

Create and execute project work plans and revise as appropriate to meet changing needs and requirements

Assist revenue targets in pursuing proposal work with RLTs.

 

Manage project budget.

Continually seek opportunities to increase customer satisfaction and deepen client relationships.

Determine appropriate revenue recognition, ensure timely and accurate invoicing, and monitor receivables for project

Coordinate with Team Leads/Engineering Managers to identify resources needed and assign individual responsibilities.

 

Analyze project profitability, revenue, billing rates and utilization.

 

 

Manage day-to-day operational aspects of projects and scope.

 

Review project contracts to ensure scope and risk is considered and covered in relation to delivery of project.

Review deliverables prepared by team before passing to client for quality assurance.

Ensure project documents are complete, current, and stored appropriately.

 

Review team hours and expenses on a regular basis.

Follow up with clients, when necessary, regarding unpaid invoices.

 

Motivate team to work together in the most efficient manner.

Effectively apply our methodology and enforce project standards. 

 

Hold regular status meetings with project team.

Minimize our exposure and risk on projects.

Manage day-to-day client interactions, while managing client expectations.

 

Champion project management processes and technology.

Teammates are required to adhere to the company policies and guidelines as well as the company and client safety policies and practices in effect at any given time.

Have the ability to apply for a Federal security clearance in order to work on institutional projects as required.

 

Education & Experience 

  • PMP certification, P.Eng., or C.E.T. designation.
  • 5+ years’ experience in Consulting Engineering or related field.
  • Experience in engineering project delivery.

Skills & Capabilities 

  • Advanced understanding of revenue models, P/L, and cost-to-completion projections and makes decisions accordingly. 
  • Understands various pricing models and billing procedures. 
  • Ability to facilitate complex teams and client meetings effectively. 
  • Possesses strong understanding in the area for engineering for multiple disciplines. 
  • Excellent interpersonal skills; a person who listens well, respects diversity of opinions and has an open, clear and succinct communication style.
  • Superior presentation and project management skills.
  • The ability to recognize and accurately define problems and solutions by collecting data and establishing facts to draw valid conclusions.
  • A results oriented and decisive individual with the ability to delegate effectively.
  • A leader in organizational and time management skills in handling multiple priorities, performing a variety of tasks, and meeting required deadlines.
  • Experienced and excellent judgement to plan and accomplish ambitious but achievable goals for various members of teams to deliver projects.
  • Act as a leader in representing the company to the staff, clients and community, ensuring best image is presented.
  • Strong understanding of contractual negotiations and associated risks with opportunities. 
  • A mentor to newer project managers.
  • Lead by example in providing project audits to ensure correct process for other project managers.
  • Provide experienced leadership in a business environment.
  • Application knowledge of WEC systems and programs (including MS Office, Planifi, MS Dynamics, Gnosis, Vision, prefer knowledge of discipline specific drafting/design software, etc.)
