National Engineering and Geoscience week was from February 24th, 2018 to March 3rd, 2018. To mark the week, NAPEG hosted a couple events here in Yellowknife to help promote Engineering and Geoscience amongst our Youth.

2nd Annual Coding Event

The first event we hosted was a Coding Event for Kids on Saturday, February 24th, 2018 for ages 5+ at the Centre Square Mall in Yellowknife, NT. The coding event consisted of hour-long workshops on laptops, for the kids to get some hands-on experience coding their very own games and characters. For the younger kids, in conjunction with the Coding Event, we had a coloring table set up for ages 2+. There were fun, promotional gifts to give away and a draw to win a Mechanomax Coding Robot! Congratulations to Isha Jha of Yellowknife, NT for winning the Robot.

We hope to see you at next year’s coding event!

17th Annual Bridge Building Competition

The second event we hosted was our 17th Annual Bridge Building Competition. It was held on Saturday, March 3rd, 2018 at the Centre Square Mall in Yellowknife, NT.

We send a huge thank you to everyone who participated in this year’s competition. We had 44 entries from extracurricular groups and students from across the Northwest Territories. The submitted model bridges were evaluated for strength, quality of construction, and application of engineering principles.
