NAPEG’s 14th Annual Bridge Building Competition

To celebrate National Engineering and Geoscience Week, NAPEG is again hosting our Annual Bridge Building Competition for elementary, junior and senior high school students to discover the exciting worlds of science and math. The Competition also includes categories for the general public and for Professional Engineers, Geoscientists, Architects, and Technologists of the Northwest Territories or Nunavut.  These links will take you to the 2014 Bridge Building Competition Rules and Guidelines for Building a Model Bridge. All model bridge entries should be received at the NAPEG office by February 20, 2014. Judging will take place on March 7, 2014. Entry Form
 
The model bridges will be judged on design, aesthetics and strength and must be received by NAPEG by February 20, 2015. There are five categories of competition:
 
Category 1: Children in Grades K-5
 
Category 2: Children in Grades 6-8
 
Category 3: Children in Grades 9-12
 
NAPEG will provide the model bridge kits free of charge to all schools in the North, and to community groups dedicated primarily to children (e.g. Scouts & Guides) – Categories 1, 2 & 3.
 
Category 4: the General Public
 
Category 5: Engineers, Geoscientists, Architects and Technologists
 
There will be an entry fee of $35 for competitors in Categories 4 & 5. 
 
Prizes will be awarded to winners in Categories 1 to 4. All winners in all categories will receive an official certificate and recognition in this newspaper.

Please Note:
 
  • A maximum of four (4) bridge entries will be accepted per school. 
  • Up to two (2) bridge entries will be accepted per community group. No individual entrant in these categories may be age 20 or older.
