NWTAA Lunch and Learn – National Building Code at a Glance

In a case where the basic life safety system is operational, and where there is no change of occupant load or fire load but a change of occupancy, should an existing building be made to comply with the current Code? Join Avinash Gupta as he answers this and other questions about the National Building Code of Canada, such as why a building code is required, the difference between it and the National Fire Code of Canada, problem-solving for meeting prescriptive requirements of the Code, and the application of the Code on existing buildings.

He will also discuss the scope of the Office of the Fire Marshal, including its expectations from the profession and tips & tricks for a smooth and expeditious plan review.

Questions on the building code are welcome in-person or prior to the lecture by email at avinash_gupta@gov.nt.ca.
